The 229th Army Band is located at 3727 Putty Hill Ave, Parkville, MD 21236.

"Army Bands provide music throughout the spectrum of military operations to instill in our soldiers the will to fight and win, foster the support of our citizens, and promote our national interests at home and abroad."

The 229th Army Band performs for military and civilian functions throughout the year which includes military reviews and ceremonies, troop support functions, recruiting events, and public concerts and events.

The 229th Army Band has been privilege to perform for many military and civilian events, to include the 45th and 50th anniversaries for D-Day in France and for the World Renowned Tattoo Ceremony in Estonia.

Requests for band participation in your event can be made by completing and submitting DD Form 2536 (Request for Armed Forces Participation in Events).

This service is provided at no cost to your organization, but is subject to approval based on availability of band. To ensure band availability and sufficient time to accommodate your request, please submit your requirements 3-12 months prior to the event.

The band is constantly looking for qualified musicians to recruit and enlist. Auditions are conducted for perspective new members at CW4 Melvin Sherr Armory by scheduling appointments with a company representative at (410) 665-3516 ext 1102 or ext 1120. The instrument positions are: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpet, Baritone, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Electric Bass, Electric Guitar, Piano, and Percussion.
