Course Overview

OCS is a leadership development program that prepares soldiers to become officers in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve.

Mission: To train, assess, and develop future leaders of the Army National Guard and Army Reservein accordance with standards set by the US Army Infantry School Upon completion, graduates receive a federally recognized commission as a Second Lieutenant

Program Overview

  • Phase Zero: In-processing, Orientation, APFT, and Basic Leadership Skills
  • Phase One: Land Navigation and Leadership Training
  • Phase Two: Leadership, Academics, and Tactics
  • Phase Three: Practical Application of Leadership Skills in a Tactical Environment
  • Graduation and Commissioning


  • Two Program Options

    (1) Traditional Program:
  • 18 months (2 Annual Training Periods and 15 IDT Periods)
  • Minimal interference with school or work


  • (2) Accelerated Program: (THIS PROGRAM IS NOT GUARANTEED)
  • 8 weeks (+3 IDT Periods for Phase Zero)
  • 2 weeks at Camp Fretterd, MD, 6 weeks at Ft Indiantown Gap
  • Completed during Summer/Fall (also offered in Winter at Fort McClellan, AL)
  • Graduate with the class that started the previous year
