Overview of WOCS
Definition of a Warrant Officer:
"An officer appointed by warrant by the Secretary of the Army, based on a sound level of
technical and tactical competence. The Warrant Officer is the highly specialized expert and
trainer who, by gaining progressive level of expertise and leadership, operates, maintains,
administers and manages the Army's equipment, support activities, or technical systems for
an entire career."
Warrant Officer School is designed to train those eligible to become Warrant Officers. There are three current ways to take the WOCS Course:
A six week Active Component Course
A four week Reserve Componenet with up to a year break between Phases I and II
A four week Reserve Componenet with Phases I and II completed back to back
All three ways are followed by a 5-40 week Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) to fully qualify for Warrant Officer
